GISW operates on a regular schedule. The school opens on time.
Competition 鈥淨uestion of the week鈥�
The purpose of this GISW contest is to motivate students to work independently on science questions in addition to their school class assignments. Every Monday, a question is posted at the entrance to the multipurpose room of the science building. The younger students in grades 4-6 are asked to research the topic, answer the question and drop their results in a mailbox by the end of the week. A detailed answer along with the best student entries will be posted at the pin board in the science building at the beginning of the new week. Points are awarded for well presented, detailed and creative answers. The evaluation is done by a teacher or older students who also participate in the development of the questions.
Of course, there are science prizes to be won every 6 weeks.
